ACI-Kuwait Chapter’s Awards Banquet is a highly anticipated and grand annual event during which the Chapter recognizes outstanding projects and individuals. Three honours were bestowed this year. These included the regular Award of Excellence, a Special Award for an Infrastructure Project, and a Special Recognition Award in place of the annual Award of Achievement. The Annual Awards Banquet was held at Kuwait National Library on 7th May, 2018.

The event was organized under the patronage of His Excellency, Minister of Public Works, Eng. Husam Abdullah Al Roumi. The function was well attended by a large number of guests, ACI-KC members and representatives of Kuwait’s building and construction industries.

The Award of Excellence is presented annually to a local project of outstanding merit. The award comprises a trophy, plaque and certificate and is given to the Owners or developers of the project. Certificates of Excellence and plaques are also presented to the general contractor, the design and supervision consultant, and the main concrete supplier.

This year ACI-KC honoured Jaber Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Hospital as a "Sophisticated architectural icon combining advanced engineering systems with aesthetic excellence". The award was presented to the developers of the building, Ministry of Public Works.

ACI-KC also presented a special award for an outstanding infrastructure project.

The Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah Causeway Main Link was recognized as a “monumental infrastructure development that will become Kuwait’s national symbol of progress and link to its future”.

The Award of Achievement is presented to an individual to recognize outstanding contribution to development and research to the engineering community and in the State of Kuwait.

The Award this year was given to Mr. Abdulhamid Darwish for his "Life time contribution towards enhancing Professionalism, and Contract Law Compliance, in Engineering Practices in the State of Kuwait."

Every few years, ACI-Kuwait Chapter honours an individual by giving special recognition to his or her lifelong and significant contribution towards Kuwait’s development through entrepreneurship, personal efforts and bold initiatives.

The Special Recognition Award was given to Mr. Jawad Ahmed Bukhamseen for his "Lifelong contribution towards promoting Entrepreneurship, Trade and Development in the state of Kuwait."
